Amazon price has gone up by more than 50% on the first day of September, putting the new AR-15 rifle on sale for the first time ever.
The rifle, which was originally priced at $1,199, now sells for $1.499 (£1.02).
The rifle is a first for Amazon, which had previously been a “pre-owned” product, meaning it would have a limited number of units to sell, as opposed to the normal one per customer.
This was originally due to a “restrictive” US patent policy, but Amazon said it would no longer be selling the rifle on its website.
“We’ve heard your concerns and we’re looking into it,” a spokesperson said.
“If you are in the US and have purchased the product in the past 24 hours, please contact Amazon support.”
Amazon’s stock price rose over 30% on Monday morning, but it was down by about half on Tuesday afternoon.
The gun, which is priced at just under $600, was originally designed for law enforcement and military units, but has now been available to civilian buyers as well.
The US government is currently considering a proposal to allow manufacturers to sell the rifle as “assault rifle” for civilians.
“With the Federal Government’s decision to allow the sale of assault weapons in all 50 states, Amazon is joining the growing chorus of companies who are selling assault weapons,” said the NRA in a statement.
US President Donald Trump has also announced that he will be taking action to crack down on the sale. “
This decision should be overturned, and we call on Congress to do so.”
US President Donald Trump has also announced that he will be taking action to crack down on the sale.
“You can’t buy assault weapons, even if you are a felon, even though you are legally allowed to purchase them, and you can’t sell them to anyone, even in the country where you live,” he said in an address to the nation on Friday.
Get out of the country, and if you do, I will send you to prison for life. “
I have a message for those of you who buy assault rifles, buy them at gun shows and buy them on the black market.
Get out of the country, and if you do, I will send you to prison for life.
You will pay dearly for your decision.”
The US is currently the only country in the world that allows people to sell firearms to civilians.
Other countries, such as Australia, the UK, Germany, Spain and France, do not have such restrictions, though some countries have legalised the sale to non-law enforcement agencies.
In the UK and Germany, the sale is prohibited, but the government has promised to “do everything in its power” to keep people out of harm’s way.
